• Legacies Writing Contest
  "The Horse Trainer," chapter 12 in More Horse Calls, was a finalist in the Legacies Writing Contest for short stories at the Carnegie Center for LIteracy and Learning in Lexington, KY in 2007.
  
  
• American Library Association for the Amelia Bloomer Project
  I Make Horse Calls has been nominated by a member of the American Library Association for the Amelia Bloomer Project, which is a project of the Feminist Task Force of the Social Responsibilities Roundtable of the American Library Association.   The task force selects books with positive role models for young women.
